Use case

Niche Communities
A User Base You Actually Own

A community's value is not its feature list. It is where the relationships between members live. Built on someone else's platform, they can go to zero overnight.

Where this business gets stuck

The community lives on rented land

Group chats cap out, history is unsearchable, members cannot be exported, and one account suspension scatters everyone.

No tools for the cold start

Early content is hand-fed, but there are no topics, no editorial placement, no incentives to work with.

Interaction is too thin

Posts and replies alone do not retain people. Follows, direct messages and groups are what make them stay.

The modules that carry this use case

DTok ships twelve modules. These are the ones doing the heavy lifting here.

Creation & publishing

Image posts, notes and video, with topics and tags

Follows & profiles

Follow graph, profiles, follower lists

Messaging

One-to-one and groups, retained in the system

Discovery & search

Topic pages, discovery feed, global search

What you would do instead

Run it in group chatsFree to start, but member caps, no search and no export mean it stops scaling exactly when it matters.
A hosted community platformComplete tooling, permanent commission, fixed styling, and user data you cannot take with you.
Adapt forum softwareDiscourse and Flarum are web-shaped. The mobile experience and the content feed are not what a community app should feel like.

Questions people ask

What about the cold start?

Technology does not solve cold start, and we would rather say so. DTok gives you topics, editorial placement and creator incentives — the first content and the first hundred people are still on you.

Is there content moderation?

The client has integration points for moderation state and reporting flows. The moderation service itself — automated or human — is a separate component chosen against your compliance needs.

Is there a size ceiling?

Not in the client. Real capacity depends on your backend and database design, which we plan against the scale you expect.
